The shape structure of composite insulator is similar to that of suspension insulator, which is composed of end fittings, insulation umbrella-shaped corrugated, sheath and single sleeve rod. Composite polymer insulator is of high strength and light weight. A synthetic insulator is 1/5 of that of porcelain insulator, but the circum-tensile strength of insulator is very high. Generally, it can be above 6000MPa.
1.The composite insulator string has good anti-pollution flashover performance: the composite insulator has hydrophobicity. When it rains, the umbrella-shaped corrugated surface of the composite insulator will not get wet and form a water film. Instead, it drops like a water bead and is not easy to form a conductive channel.
2.Compared to traditional porcelain insulators, polymer suspension insulators are lightweight. This characteristic makes them easier to handle during installation and reduces the overall weight and stress on the supporting structures.
3.Excellent corrosion resistance: the surface leakage and flashover of the insulator form irreversible deterioration and trace phenomenon. The general standard is not lower than grade 4.5 (that is, 4.5kV), and the composite insulator is grade 6 ~ 7.
